Yavapai Rim Trail- Trail of Time Geology

Today was our free day and we decided to make the best of what looked like might turn into a rainy day.
Once everyone was awake and up and going we headed for the shuttle. We were hoping to go see the Watchtower, but ended up at the Yavapai Geology Museum and Rim Trail. Which turned out to be a great time. This was the geology time travel trail. The boys loved seeing the giant rocks and seeing how old they were.  Since it was a cloudy day, it was not crazy hot, and had a nice breeze.

We saw the rain coming in over the Grand Canyon. which was really pretty.  We stopped for a picture and the couple who took it told us to act like we were blowing away in the storm. The boys thought that was funny.
We made it to the car just as the rain came in and decided instead of heading back to the trailer where they will be most the rest of the day, we would go grab some food and see if we could find souvenirs. No need to be stuck in the trailer longer than needed with hungry boys. That would not be a great ending. Mexican it is. It was the best over priced Mexican food there ever was.
Once to the campsite, the rain had settled, and it was nap time for Emory and me. Sir Isaac sat around the fire amd watched the Georgia Game, Little I played his Legos, amd Eli looked at a book. I eventually brought out the paint and rocks and we sat around and painted some rocks to place around the campsite for others to find. That was a good boredom buster.

We ended our day with boys watching a classic, Mrs. Doubtfire, eating popcorn for dinner, finishing the Georgia game around the campfire. Tomorrow we leave the South Rim and head to Page, Arizona for the next leg of our trip.
